SUICIDE
Why do people end their lives? Why do they kill themselves? Why do they commit suicide? It is because they want to escape. They want to end their pain and suffering. But death is not the end. It is the beginning of eternity - one of two eternities. So if someone out there is thinking of ending their life, here’s my advice. Believe that Jesus died for your sins and that he rose from the dead. Believe that you are perfect in his eyes, because he bore all your sins. Believe that you are forgiven and then wait. Wait for Jesus to come and get you. Wait for him to take you to himself in his own way. Live every day and endure to the end, even through the greatest of suffering, and you will receive the crown of life.

We stand in grace, not works. If we are going to make it, it will be through the kindness of God, and our trust in that kindness. If we believe that God can bring us through, then He will. If we lose our confidence in Christ, then we stop Him from helping us. We stand in grace, as we believe in grace. To believe in grace is not to believe in our faith. We do not finish the race because we are good believers, or good at believing. We finish the race because we trust the One who does all things well, Jesus Christ. So rejoice in this hope, and in the glory of God. Rejoice in God’s glory. Too many people are too happy with themselves. May we glory in what Christ has done on the cross, and may we have confidence in the dignity of God, as He fulfills in us the things we know He can.

I really like the post about Grace. I like "the Edge" too. That whole CD has some great songs on it!
I have struggled in my Walk long enough that I know it shouldn't be so deeply rooted in feelings, but it is. A lot of times I feel close to God and a lot of times I don't, and I know C.S. Lewis describes that like a natural, sinusoidal cycle in The Screwtape Letters.
I love life and just want to make the most out of every breath. It's pointless and a 70ish years of absorbing food, water, time, pleasure, and lack thereof in meaningless vain unless you're rooted in Jesus. Solomon says "fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man" (Ecc. 12). My favorite verse of the whole Bible is Philippians 1:21---"For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." I think these two verses sum up life in a nutshell.
I used to question why people would kill themselves, and I know the Church has looked down on it as ending the mission early. I have seen people who were in enough pain and close enough to the point of actually potentially taking their lives. I don't know how God decides the individual cases of suicide, but part of me honestly believes, especially in hearing some of the tales of martyrs and repressed Christians in other countries, that if people have been driven so far to the point of taking their own lives, then although it is their duty to keep as mentally focused as they can on living, God understands their condition and is still a loving God as much as He is a fair judge.

Why try?
Why fight a losing battle?
Why walk a few days only to disappear from this planet?
........................
By the same token, should David never have walked? Or Abraham? What would you do now if they had not had the courage to live this life?
Food for thought.

There are a lot of things that go into a person wanting to commit suicide. Usually it is having our eyes on the circumstances of life that seem so overwhelming at the time instead of being on Christ.
There are some people christian and non-christian alike that go through some things they will never make sense out of and have no idea how to handle. Sometimes from early on in their lives. These things can leave huge holes and scars that are VERY deep that only God can heal. I can not speak for everyone, I can only speak for myself and what I went through and why I wanted to die. When you are taught that those closest to you ;who are supose to love and protect you ;CAN NOT be trusted it skews everything you see and learn in life. Especially views of God. This is where I was at. I will not get into everything, but I will say that I chose to allow God to show me He was trustworthy. He began to show me HIS truth. It didn`t happen overnight. This I do know, even though I did try to commit suicide, God`s grace was sufficient for me. I didn`t have any adults or people back then who cared to reach out to me or that even had an understanding of what I was going/went through.Had there been I am not sure I would have been able to accept it as I had learned to distrust people. I will simply leave it at this, people who have gone through abuse do not see things the same way most normal people see things. It has taken me a long time to get where I am now with the help of God. I am ok now with everything I went through. I have learned that I will never see things the way others do.And that is ok. I may never be rid of the triggers either and that`s okay as well. I am who I am by the grace of God and when I am weak, it is then that HE is strong. I am alive when doctors said I should have been dead by the Grace of God. Am I all the way healthy yet, probably not. But I am well on the way with Father God leading the way.

It doesn't take courage to live life in neutral. It takes tremendous courage to go on living in pain and doubt. You are a courageous person and I thank God that He helped you to hold on. I know those depths can be very dark indeed and it is sometimes difficult to raise our head and look up but when we do He is there to pull us from the well. He is the Light and that is never more evident than when we slip into darkness. Praise Him.
